Hi. It is normal for it to be harder at this time of year (winter), and with the recent very cold weather would expect it to become quite hard. Likewise in summer it can become quite soft.

Because it is a 100% natural balm, you do get that consistency variation as the temperature changes, the beeswax will go harder or softer.

It does not affect the actual product or the potency of it though. When it is harder, simply rub a small amount between your fingers first, this quickly warms and softens it, and then can be applied easily. Hope that this answers.

Putting it on top of the heater for short time to soften it on a cold day may be fine (and work). However we would recommend against leaving it on a heater for too long or storing it there. You don't want to end up 'cooking' the balm or overheating it, and too much heat may cause some separation of the ingredients.

Remember it is truly a 100% natural balm, so being harder and softer in different temperatures is just part of its natural state.

A reminder for all users of the tip for when the balm is hard or firmer: is to take a small amount and just rub it a little between your fingers first, which greatly softens it, and then apply where it will spread nicely.
